Our Opportunity

Working flexibly from our Midlands base, we have numerous exciting projects with Bedford Local Authority working on schools, new design and build, extensions and repurposing. The successful Project Manager will join the team in Leicester and become part of the collaborative culture at Pick Everard; a construction and property consultancy who have operated within the market for over 150 years. Work is across the educational and local authority sector and will involve working client side.

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design and management of projects in the value of circa £1-30m. Other responsibilities of the role include:

  • Agree and develop the client’s brief from inception in conjunction with any other consultants appointed
  • Co-ordinate, manage and communicate with the client, project stakeholders and other consultants appointed to meet requirements of the project
  • Preparation of programmes and undertaking programme management
  • Undertake change management, co-ordinate the design process, oversee and manage the control of the project both pre- and post-contract including financial expenditure throughout all RIBA stages.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the development of the procurement strategy and procurement activities
  • Undertake and participate in risk-, value- and opportunities management, including facilitating workshops to ensure that these activities are controlled within the project team including contractors, sub-contractors, and the supply chain
  • Prepare and issue reports, including but not limited to preparation of Project Execution Plans (PEP), Strategy Reports, Risk Registers, Progress Reports etc.
  • Ensure that the project meets statutory approvals and take actions as necessary to ensure that the projects meet these statutory responsibilities
Long to short term you can expect to become involved in a range of exciting and challenging schemes across both the private and public sectors, with clients including schools, residential developers, hospitals and retail outlets.

About You

This role will suit a Project Manager who has strong experience working on a variety of projects within the built environment. Ideally you will also have the following skills, experience and attributes:

Technical:

  • Experience in a compatible role in the construction environment (Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor or Building Surveyor background)
  • Knowledge of building technology and construction principles
  • A good understanding of forms of building contract (JCT and NEC3) and experience of contract administration
  • Ability to control day to day programming and planning, monitor progress and expenditure of projects
  • Excellent communication and client facing skills, combined with strong interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Membership of a construction related professional body, such as CIOB or RICS – desirable
  • Project management related qualification (Prince2 or similar) – desirable
  • Experience in using Microsoft Project, Asta or Primavera software
  • Full UK driving licence
